Achievement

At Holmesdale we take great pride in the fact that, contrary to both the local and national trend, all of our Year 11 students have had a successful transition into sixth form, college or training; we have no student who is NEET (not in education, employment or training).

Similarly all of our sixth form students are continuing in education either at university or college, have secured an apprenticeship or are in employment.

Following the improvement in results in 2015, once again The Holmesdale School, has produced 6th from results of which to be proud. By sustaining this high level of attainment, the average grade remains at a 'C' grade or equivalent across all subjects. This has been achieved through a 95% pass rate in all exams and 100% pass rate in vocational subjects, including 100% in challenging A Levels, such as Mathematics and Chemistry.

All of our students will be moving on to further education or training and over half will be going to university.

Case Study student:
Bradley Harris, who has been at Holmesdale since Year 7 attained 3 A Levels with an A in Mathematics, a B in Chemistry and a C in Physics. Bradley is going on to study a degree in Mathematics at Surrey University.

Holmesdale students achieved similar results to 2015, and can be very proud of their individual achievements. There was a sharp rise in the number of As attained and the number of A*s doubled from 2015. One of the biggest successes was in GCSE English Language and English Literature where there was a 10% increase in the percentage A*-C grades from last year.

Case study Students:

  • Robyn Flether and Nicole Harman both achieved 11 A*-C grades of which 5 were A*-A.
  • Bradley Morris and Filip Kamionka both achieved 9 A*-C grades of which 4 were A*-A.

All four of these students have chosen to stay at Holmesdale School for the Sixth Form. They trust the staff will give them the best opportunities to achieve the highest grades at A Level and provide the best opportunity for their future. With 99% of all students now in education, training or employment, we are continuing to support the last two students who are looking at their college options
