Travel and Tourism

This subject may be taught over one or two years at Key Stage 4

Years 9, 10 and 11

Throughout the course, students will develop the knowledge and skills needed in the world of work. Successful completion of the course will equip them with appropriate skills to aid them in their chosen career path and/or the opportunity to progress to higher education.

Students who have chosen to study this subject will complete six units of work to achieve their qualification equivalent to one GCSEs A* - E.

  • Unit 2 – UK Tourism Destinations (Internal assessment)
  • Unit 1 – The Travel and Tourism Industry (External assessment –January and June assessment opportunities)
  • Unit 3 – The Development in Travel and Tourism
  • Unit 4International Travel and Tourism Destination

Year 12

Students choosing to study Travel and Tourism at A level will commence the Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma equivalent to one A level.  Students will complete three units of work over the year, demonstrating a range of skills and knowledge assessment through assignments.  This qualification is 100% coursework.

  • Term 6 - Unit 4: Customer Service in Travel and Tourism

Year 13

Students in Year 13 will complete the final three units of work necessary to complete their qualification.  Students by the end of Year 13 will have developed transferrable skills which will support progression to university or employment.
