Katy Birchall Author Visit

The Holmesdale School were very pleased to be the first school to welcome author Katy Birchall on her week-long tour of schools around the country.

Katy started her morning being interviewed by a group of year 7 students for an article in this term’s school magazine and then went on to talk to a hall full of students from local primary and secondary schools as well as two of our year 7 classes.

After being treated to Katy reading from ‘Superstar Geek’, the first book in her It Girl series, all the students were keen to get involved in helping to create a super ‘hero’ character. A budding artist from Cobham Hall Girls School helped the audience and Katy to create ‘Jeff’ a super villain with his unicorn sidekick.

Katy explained how she uses ideas to build and create her own characters and went on to answer questions from the audience.
