Reading Buddies - Drop Everything and Read

This term the Reading Buddies groups all gathered in the library to Drop Everything and Read.

Our Reading Buddies meet once a week to encourage and engage Year 7 students who are either struggling to read or who are gifted and talented in this area. Most are A Level literature students and they listen to the students read during tutor time once a week and when the whole school takes part in a 'Drop Everything and Read' day.

The scheme is in the early stages of development but using the 6th form students to buddy up with the youngest children in the school means that they have also act as mentors and role models.

All students need to be  prepared and have a book or magazine to read for our next Drop Everything and Read event on Thursday 6th July during Tutor Time. They can bring in something from home, or visit our school library or the local library to borrow something for this event.
