Our Sixth Form
We are extremely pleased to announce that over 61% of our last year’s Year
13 cohort have applied to attend University, this is compared to 20% in
previous years with 48% of this year's students accepting their first choice
university places.
At The Holmesdale School, our mission is to transform our students’ lives
through exceptional teaching and to provide them with the necessary set of
skills and knowledge for a successful future.
We offer a diverse and well-rounded curriculum to Post-16 students,
ultimately designed to lead individuals on to university or full time
employment with training such as an apprenticeship. Our Sixth Form is small
but dynamic.
Many teachers have been at Holmesdale for several years and
know how to guide our students to success.
Our Sixth Form results have been positive for many years now, with the 2025
results exceeding national figures and we hope to exceed those again this
year. All students going on to University got their first choice and others
started an apprenticeship or employment. We have a range of great facilities
for our Sixth Form students. They all have full access to their own study
room, the Library & Resource Centre. Whether students are moving up from
Year 11 or joining us from another school, as many do, our friendly and
popular Sixth Form will offer students a wonderful experience!
Our Sixth Form students are a close community and are exceptional role
models for the rest of the school. We recognise that our students are young
adults. We also acknowledge, however, that the transition between GCSE and
Post-16 courses can be challenging and therefore, we offer a focused and
detailed induction programme and mentoring. We also have a Careers
Guidance Adviser who works closely with our Sixth Form students, offering
one-to-one sessions. All our Sixth Form students are strongly supported and
encouraged throughout their time with us. We will ensure that they leave our
school with a definite destination and are fully equipped for the challenges
ahead of them.
