Key Stage 5 Sport Studies Curriculum Intent
The PE and Sport curriculum aims to ensure that all students develop a life-long love for sport and physical activities. We aim to promote a wide range of sports that allow students to experience things they may wish to continue in later life.
Throughout the Key Stage 3 and 4 curriculum, links, both practically and theory based, are apparent to Key Stage 4 BTEC Sport classes so students are given basic knowledge to work upon should they wish to take sport at Key Stage 4. For those students that do take sport as an options subject, the knowledge and skills that are then learnt in a theory setting can be built further upon if taken in Key Stage 5. The optional units are chosen to allow for smooth transitions and provide a foundation level of knowledge, that can then be developed in the 6th form curriculum and in to further/higher education.
